WHAT'S HAPPENING

Chicago Spotlight currently is supplying TwinSpin II units to the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, The Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, and The Theatre School at DePaul University. "Even with over twenty of the TwinSpin II units in rental inventory, we can't keep them here, which is a good problem." Quotes Todd Koeppl, Rental Manager. "We are working with designers like Tom Hase and Troy Martin O'Shia who swear by these units for their quiet, trouble-free operation." The All-State production of "Big River" at the Illinois High School TheatreFestival was completely colored with GamColor, textured completely with Gam Patterns, featured the use of eight TwinSpin II units using the Surface Water recipe from the GAM Recipe Book, and a 2KW Scene Machine for rain effects. By all accounts the show looked spectacular. Chicago Spotlight supplied all of the equipment and consumable supplies, with Technical Theatre Students from all over the State of Illinois handling the setup and operation.

Mr. Karl Haas, Design Associate for Gallegos Lighting Design raves about the new recipe book from GAM in a letter that says.. "I just wanted to take a minute and express my total delight with the new GAM Special Effects Recipe Book...At first I thought, 'hey!! they're giving away all of the secrets!' But after my initial reaction, I realized that the bar has now been set a little higher and we must all look to new, improved applications while freely sharing and detailing these 'tried and true' effects. The recipe book is a great idea and tool, and I am sure all of us in the lighting industry will benefit by using it. Please express our thanks to all of those involved with its production and distribution." If you haven't yet received your copies of the new GAM Special Effects Recipe Book you are missing out on exciting lightingTechniques for the TwinSpin, Spin/FX, GamColor and of course the GAM Patterns!

A kind letter was received from Mr. Ted Bokhof, a Chicago member of the International Cinematographers Guild, to Mr. George Dibie, President of the Guild. He writes that ..."I would like to especially compliment whoever thought to include Mr. (Joe) Tawil in the program. He made his presentation so clear that the practical applications for us were accessible and immediately useful. We would like to thank Mr. Bokhof for his kind words about Joe's color lecture, and also Mr. Dibi for sharing them with us!
