JOE'S CORNER

Now the problem is, it's show biz and nobody's interested in what you did yesterday, but what you are doing for an encore. Blackwrap, GamColor and TwinSpin as well as the rolling color changer are all history. The question is-What's new? What's new so far this year is GAMFLOOR, an exciting new material that has found application in motion picture, television and theatrical production. Recently the L.A. Opera used eight rolls of GAMFLOOR to solve a time problem.

The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center had a production in the afternoon and an opera that night. There was no way to do the two different productions on the stage and have the floor be a different color by painting it. There just wasn't sufficient turn around time from the afternoon performance to the evening performance. The solution? Six rolls of GAMFLOOR Matte Blue laid down for the afternoon production.

In addition there was a need for a long gold arrow on a black background. GAMFLOOR was used to create the gold arrow on the black background.

The variety of GAMFLOOR customers is quite wide-from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to the BBC in London to CBS and NBC productions to the Dance Alliance in Pittsburgh and so on. We believe that one of the biggest applications will be for ChromaKey Green and Blue in television and film production. Have you spoken to your local TV station lately?

In this issue and at ShowBiz Expo in Los Angeles we will be introducing the next HOT new item, literally and figuratively speaking. GAMTORCH, the RealFlame Torch that has built in safety features to warm the heart of any fire marshal. The GamTorch was originally designed by Jeff Kleeman of the Los Angeles Opera and has been in service for many years. Its proven performance has given us the confidence to go ahead with this incredibly bright idea.

The GAMTORCH is a real flame torch. The fuel that it burns is nontoxic, creates very little or no smoke, and no fumes. It is convenient for use indoors, however it does burn very well outdoors in a windy atmosphere. The flame can be as high as sixteen inches and lasts for about fifteen minutes. As important as making a real flame torch work is getting it to stop working with a built-in safety feature. There is a deadman switch in the handle. If the handle is released for any reason, the flame is completely encased and snuffed out in less than a second. This feature is unique in that the flame is totally smothered by a spring loaded cylinder and lid that surrounds the fire chamber.

The GAMTORCH is a sure winner in the many opera companies where torches are so often required. However, it has many applications in theme parks, outdoor venues, film production and other special events.
