Highlighting up-and-coming young designers who are using GamColor

AS one of the Lightboard Operators, Caitlin Guyan makes the magic happen for Fantasmic! at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. She started working at Disneyland twelve years ago as an Attractions Hostess (Ride Operator), and worked her way up to her present position as a Stage Technician.

Caitlin is an accomplished and talented lighting designer who studied her craft at the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California. After receiving her Bachelor's degree from Whittier College. She also holds a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from The University of California, Irvine. One of her most recent designs was for the play Orphans by Lyle Kessler, which was presented by the Vanguard Theatre Ensemble in Fullerton, California

Orphans is a dark play about two brothers whose mother has died and father has disappeared. The older brother, Treat, cares for the younger one, Phillip, and is so overly protective that both brothers are shut-ins without much social interaction. During a kidnaping gone wrong, they meet a stranger, Harold, whom both brothers mistrust. Harold wins their affections and becomes an unlikely father figure.

Caitlin decided to light the show entirely with GamColor. Like many designers, she was more familiar with other brands of color medium and was looking forward to the opportunity to try something new and to expand her palette.

"The subject matter of the play is not very pretty, but thanks to GamColor, I was able to make the lighting 'pretty' while still matching and enhancing the moods and undertones of the action on the stage. I was impressed with GamColor, from its durability to its purity and clarity. I was completely satisfied with my choices, and I'm looking forward to using GamColor in future designs."

Speaking of future designs, Caitlin Guyan will continue her work with Disneyland, and hone her craft in various Orange County theatres.
