TECH TIPS

GAMPRODUCTS has been selling our TwinSpin II gobo rotators and Spin/FX effects machines for years. We have now added the Film/FX for this line of products. As most of you know, these machines run off an AC to DC transformer for their power requirements. We have done this to keep the effects inexpensive and easy to use. The idea was that most customers would plug the effects machines into their dimmers to enable the user to control the speed of the effects. In some cases we now get requests for the effects to be run directly from DMX control. I have seen what some manufacturers have done to accomplish this, and the solutions seem to be more complicated than practical. Here is the way we at GAM are taking on this need. If you lack the dimmer outlets to use with our effects, you would be better off adding a small low power dimmer stick to your system to control the effects. These dimmers can control at least twelve to sixteen units at a very low cost, and can also be used for other needs. If you need to control twenty to ninety six units we now offer DMX to DC converters in sizes of thirty two, sixty four, and ninety six outputs to directly power our effects. This makes for a much more elegant and cost saving method for DMX control of our effects. Call Kelly Ames at GAM for more information on these procedures, or you may e-mail directly to kellyames@gamonline.com.
