OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE GAM TEST DMX HAND HELD CABLE TESTER MODEL 3220

GAM TEST DMX is battery operated and uses four AA batteries, which are included. See instruction on bottom pullout panel to install batteries. Once installed you can use the GAM TEST DMX.

At the top of the unit, next to the male and female 5-pin DMX connectors, you will see a switch. Turn to ON to operate the GAM TEST DMX.

TO TEST THE CABLE
Plug 5-wire DMX cable into the Send (female) and Receive (male)connectors of the unit. The LED's in the Send display will be chasing 1 through 5 in sequence. If the cable is O.K., 1 through 5 in the Receive display will exactly mimic the sequence of the send display.

If the wires are crossed rather than chasing in sequence you will see a reverse in the Receive LED display, indicating that the pin configuration is not correct.

If there is a short in the cable the Receive display will show the pairs of wires that are shorted out‹lit at the same time.

CHECKING FOR DMX SIGNAL
You may use the GAM TEST DMX to check if there is a DMX signal from your control console. Plug the DMX signal from the control console into the receive receptacle of the GAM TEST DMX. LED lamps 2 and 3 will light if there is a DMX signal from the control console. If only one lamp lights, or no lamps light, you have no DMX signal.
